We are delighted to share the expansion of our work with Blackpool Teaching Hospitals.
Wellmind Health has been working with Blackpool Pain Management Service at the Whitegate Drive Health Centre for over four years, supporting patients with our Pathway through Pain digital pain management program for chronic musculoskeletal (MSK) pain. The program has achieved consistent outcomes of reductions in anxiety and depression along with overall MSK Health improvement.
Pathway through Pain now will be offered to patients on waiting lists for treatment as well as those already receiving treatment. This year, the Pain Management Service's key focus is to reduce waiting lists and accelerate access to treatment via this digital program.
There has already been significant uptake from patients on the waiting list in the past few weeks. Initial outcomes for program completers include average 30-40% reductions in anxiety and depression, with further positive patient feedback received about the program:
"I have found the program very helpful, specifically the relaxation sections. I have gone from virtually no sleep each night to being able to drift off easily and stay asleep most nights."
Blackpool Pain Management Service supports people struggling with persistent pain by providing proven effective treatments, education and support based on biopsychosocial and cognitive behavioural approaches. Pathway through Pain provides 24/7 support and aligns with the Service's emphasis on interdisciplinary working and promoting long-term self-help strategies.
George Rogers, MSK & Foot Health Service Manager at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, said:
"The Trust is continuing to use the Pathway through Pain programme to improve patient access to education and advice while they await treatment. We hope this leads to improved clinical outcomes and enhanced patient care"
