The Future Health invited Wellmind Health CEO Heather Cook to Leeds to join other expert panellists for a discussion on 'Empowering people, enhancing care: Realising a digitally enabled, data-driven NHS for 2035' at their latest event.
Chaired by former Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, Heather joined Lloyd Price of Nelson Advisors, Mike Odling-Smee of Aire Logic and Mike Sanders of VitalHub in front of over 150 healthcare industry leaders to debate the issues and practical measures required to realise NHS digital transformation.
Interoperability, commercialisation pathways and capacity challenges were identified as the key challenges. The panel agreed that collaboration was essential to ensuring intent is transformed into progress through efficient execution, with scalable, interoperable systems backed by frameworks. There is also the potential for cross-departmental collaboration to act as a catalyst.
Other key suggestions for realising change included creating clear routes to commercialisation, smarter and more competitive procurement and a kitemark for transferable evidence to ease the move beyond pilots.
Our thanks to the organisers and panellists for such an in-depth and productive discussion.
